Information for participants in working groups, online hui, consultations, webinars and surveys

NZQA appreciates the contributions of our stakeholders and will manage any information provided respectfully.

This advice provides clarity and transparency to people participating in NZQA-led working groups, online hui, consultations, webinars and surveys and relates to both personal and non-personal information provided to NZQA.

Information/Records management

As a crown entity, NZQA is subject to the Public Records Act 2005 (the Act). Where information provided to NZQA (which may include personal information) constitutes part of a public record, it will be retained to the extent required by the Act. Information provided to NZQA will have different retention requirements for different information classifications.

Submissions

NZQA may publish submissions made by you - whether individually or on behalf of an organisation - in relation to consultation NZQA undertakes on any issue.  The invitation for submissions will set out NZQA’s intentions, and any requirements in relation to publishing.

Information access

All information held by NZQA is accessible under court orders or some statutes (such as the Official Information Act 1982, the exceptions to Information Privacy Principle 11 under the Privacy Act 2020, and other laws such as those which may require supply of information under formal demand).

Withholding information

The Official Information Act 1982 allows certain information to be withheld under privacy or other grounds.  Withholding grounds under Section 9 of that Act are subject to a public interest test, which may result in disclosure.

You have the right to request your personal information held by NZQA under Information Privacy Principle 6.
