In Merging History I am exploring my own identity and family history. These taonga belong to my grandfather and are photographed cradled in his hands to show the family and spiritual connections. The image shows the taonga emerging from the darkness and being photographed in modern light. I am also interested in the materiality and surface of the objects and the relationship these surfaces have with my grandfather's skin. |
