Statement	I wanted to learn how to carve native wood for my final year, so I carved this wheku from tōtara that was gifted to our school. Learning about the grain and the processes to carve a wheku was a great experience and I am very proud that I completed this wheku. The pattern is the pūngāwerewere ritorito representing the abundance of knowledge that I gained from carving this piece.
