Candidates will be required to listen to pre-recorded music extracts and respond to tasks using appropriate musical notation.
The following skills will be assessed:
- rhythmic transcription of a melodic line
- transcription of the pitch of a melodic line, in treble or bass clef
- identification of chords using Roman numerals or jazz / rock notation
- identification of common musical features, such as instruments and / or voice types; tempo indications; time signatures; articulation; and dynamic markings.
An audio recording of music extracts will be supplied.
