Approved subjects for University Entrance

Applicants to New Zealand universities require 14 credits (or 12 credits in 2020 only) in each of three approved subjects.  The approved subjects are listed below.

A new subject (Te Ao Haka) and its associated standards shown in bold were added to the Approved Subjects list as of 1 April 2021, for the 2021 and 2022 academic years, to accommodate the piloting of the standards.

* Only students engaged in learning and achievement derived from Te Marautanga o Aotearoa are eligible to be awarded the subjects identified with an asterisk below.
