Score exemplars: It don't mean a thing level 2 US27658
Demonstrate and apply knowledge of electronic music production and music notation application(s)
The following exemplars are student evidence for Outcome 2.1 where students are required to create a score.
The standard requires students to create a stylistically consistent score with a minimum of two staves and twelve bars.
An indication of length which allows students to meet Excellence criteria would be between 28-30 bars. Range includes a minimum of six of: pitches (including accidentals); rests; rhythms; chord indications; dynamics; instrument names; tempo or metronome marking; feel; repeat sign; anacrusis.
An example of an authentic task could be to take concert band parts and recreate in Sibelius. The parts can therefore be improved to meet specific player or ensemble requirements.

This exemplar has been created using Sibelius 6. The score created in this exemplar meets Achievement criteria as it contains 2 parts, minimum of 12 bars together with six conventions (evidence of pitch, accidentals, rests, rhythms, instrument names, dynamics and repeat previous bar symbol). Areas for improvement would be further attention to details such as font (bold and italics are missing); repeat bars (numbers above absent); tie lengths in bell part, together with missing rehearsal bar numbers. |
In the midnight hour by Steve Cropper and Wilson Pickett, Arranged by Johnnie Vinson. |

This exemplar has been created using Sibelius 6. This exemplar demonstrates a high level of knowledge of what the score needs to be made (processes) and how to do that (using the Sibelius 6 applications, features and functions). Evidence includes confident and accurate layout positioning, text formatting (bold, italic, size), pitch, duration, articulation, expression, dynamics, rehearsal bar numbers, and part names. Part scores included, and mirrors source material bars per system. |
