2017 – New Te Mātauranga Māori Whāiti unit standards
Details are available in the August 2017 Review of Te Mātauranga Māori me te Whakangungu unit standards change report.
These are a new development. With the Targeted review of qualifications, new qualifications were developed for Te Ako Mokopuna - Māori World View in Early Learning. In response to the new qualifications, expression of interest was sent out to form a whakaruruhau to develop new unit standards that align with the new qualifications.

The review of the unit standards is part of the review cycle following the targeted review of qualifications and to ensure the standards are fit for purpose, relevant, and that their outcomes are achievable, coherent, and consistent with valid assessment practices.
