Statement |
I personified a Pāua shell, I wanted to explore our traditions of carving into the skin. This is to tie into conservative people who disapprove of tā moko therefore are not able to see its true beauty. This is why I chose Pāua, the outside is dull and not so great. However, when you open it the colours and texture are beautiful...just like tā moko.
