Statement |
I have created this pūkāea to show my love for taonga puoro. I have a love for all music but I am very intrigued in puoro Māori and how taonga puoro was used in pre-European Aotearoa, thus displayed with my pūkāea. On the body of the pūkāea, I have carved Taratara-a-Kae and near the mouth piece. I also have Taratara-a-Kae around the mouth of the pūkāea where there is also pāua and feathers. I have sealed the pūkāea with polyurethane to give it a customary look. . |
