Statement |
I am proud of who I am and my whakapapa - it really connects me to these places which I feel more connected to when I paint them. Each painting I do represents a bit of me and my ancestors' history. I chose to paint my pepeha to not only connect myself and learn more, but to see what others see as I don't visit these places often at all. I feel this works for me because I not only see new versions, but I get to see the old versions of these places that connect me to Ngāti Porou. |
