For some standards, candidates have to submit a portfolio of work to be assessed.
These standards are in the following subjects:
- Technology
- Visual Arts
- Design and Visual Communication (DVC)
- Education for Sustainability.

Ask the school how to submit the portfolio
The school will tell students how to gather and present their portfolios, including:
- any requirements for format, file size etc
- dates any portfolio work is due to teachers.
The process and due dates may be different for each subject, so check with the school.

Portfolios in te reo Māori
Candidates can present their portfolio in te reo Māori unless the assessment specifications for that standard exclude it.

Returning NZ Scholarship and NCEA assessment materials to overseas addresses
Students can apply to NZQA if they want the following assessment material sent to an overseas address:
- NZ Scholarship answer booklets/Performance Summary Cards; and/or
- NCEA Level 3 and NZ Scholarship Visual Arts portfolios/workbooks.
You can email NZQA to check your material is at NZQA for delivery.
You must apply by 1 March of the year after the assessment.
